Vintage Lou Myers Poster
Product details
Seller's Notes:Lou Myers was a satiric artist and graphic essayist whose expressive style helped modernize how cartoons were used in advertisements and for editorial. In a career that spanned seven decades, Mr. Myers developed a childlike, raw, black brush stroke that gave the illusion of lightheartedness. But his cartoons strove to explode political and social taboos. Mr. Myers's provocative style was in such demand that clients included his signature in their ads, a practice unheard of at the time and still rare today. His editorial illustrations appeared in Monocle, Esquire, and The New York Times. This poster was produced by Cullen Rapp, Inc., Myers’ agent, to showcase the illustrator’s distinctive style for potential clients. Has a 2.5” light brown mark in the top right. (See pictures.) 21.5” X 28.5”
